The Senate voted 77–22 on Sept 18 to advance the Protect College Sports Act. Every D-I athletic director in Illinois signed on. Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell are leading it. And Dave has questions.
Who's protecting the players? There's antitrust exemption for the NCAA — but do the athletes have a union? Are they even in the room? Who represents the women's side? And that one-transfer rule: if the LABOR gets penalized for moving schools, do the coaches and administrators get penalized too? If not, the whole thing is a sham.
Dave's take, straight up: college sports have been violating student-athlete labor for decades and making billions doing it. The only thing that needs protecting is the athletes. This ain't college sports anymore. This is pro sports — welcome to the real world.
